About the event

Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing not just how we live, but also how we confront death—and how we are remembered. This dynamic six-week course dives into the fascinating world of “digital ghosts”: AI-generated replicas of the deceased that aim to keep memories alive while sparking profound psychological and ethical debates.


We will kick off by placing these technologies within humanity’s enduring battle against mortality. From the grand pyramids of Egypt to the sacred reliquaries of medieval saints, humans have consistently sought ways to preserve presence beyond death. The 19th century brought new mediums into this struggle: daguerreotypes of the departed, spirit photographs, and séances facilitated by mediums. In today’s landscape, AI memorial chatbots, holograms of lost loved ones, and predictive “afterlife avatars” stand as the latest innovations in our quest for continuity.
